Lovers of Sushi

Sushi is one of those things that you either love or hate. I'll be the first to admit that it's a weird thing. Raw fish, cold rice, and other odd ingredients (eel sauce? fish eggs?), leaves people on polar opposites sides of sushi. Johnny and I are lovers of sushi. We love the raw fish. We love the rice. We love the weird add-ins. We love love love it. One snowy evening (years ago), we wandered into a sushi restaurant, with the thought that we'll try anything once. We were hooked from that point on.

Currently, our favorite sushi place is a restaurant called Piranha's Sushi Bar. It's got a great atmosphere, wonderful food (including some fun items like cornmeal calamari and tostones), and we've gotten to meet the owner many times. Plus, they have "happy hour sushi", where certain rolls are only $3. Johnny and I are also bargain hunters, so that's big points for Piranha's in our book.

Yesterday, I got an email from Living Social (a "daily deal coupon" website, very similar to Groupon, both of which I would HIGHLY recommend), offering a $30 certificate for $15 (50% discount!) for sushi at a place called California Rollin'. Johnny and I have never been there, but we've heard great things from our sushi-loving friends, so I hopped online and purchased the certificate. THEN, I found out that they have specials every day, and the Friday special is all-you-can-eat lobster bisque free of charge for all dine-in customers. Um, heck yes. So, guess what Johnny and I will be doing Friday night? You got it. Drowning ourselves in a never ending bowl of lobster bisque, while trying $30 worth of sushi that we only paid $15 for. Score.

We also fancy ourselves to be amateur food critics, so we will give you the full run down of our adventure next week. Anyone else get wicked excited for deals like this? Or sushi? Or lobster bisque? Please share :)
