Be Still My Heart

Here is my Johnny.

So handsome. So adorable. His smile gives me butterflies.

This post is dedicated to him. For those of you who hate "mushi-ness" (yes, that is a word), you may want to stop reading now. Fair warning.

I love my husband. It's really unbelievable how much I love him sometimes. I love him so much that it hurts. In fact, I actually remind him of that when I squeeze him really hard. Come on, you all know what I'm talking about! Have you ever seen a little baby, or a puppy or kitten, and they're so amazingly adorable that you want to squeeze them real tight? Like Lenny from Of Mice and Men? No? Okay, moving on...

My heart is forever inclined to him. When I hear his voice, when I feel his touch, when I smell him, my heart melts. There's something so calming to me about his presence--my whole world could be spinning out of control, and his presence allows me to breathe. I laugh with him until I'm wetting my pants (someday we'll share some epic moments between us, including the pink booger incident and the car mirror incident), and I cry with him until there are no more tears. I am who I am with him, including every broken and ugly part, and he loves me. Wow. It takes my breath away.

We have a million nicknames for each other. I'm gonna share with you some of them, and explain the ones that have a PG rated explanation. Sorry readers, we're married, that's just how it goes :)
  1. Johnny and June (obviously)
  2. Sweetie-We're both call each other this, and sometimes it morphs into "Squeezie"
  3. Mama D & Papa D-Our ghetto names :)
  4. Mr. D & Mrs. D-This is when we're being old-fashioned, back in the day when spouses would refer to the other as Mr. & Mrs.
  5. Rumpus-Another name for my...ahem...rear-end if you will...but Johnny uses this to refer to the whole me. I am usually a bit offended, but then he smiles at me, and I melt.
  6. Rumpleheinskin-I don't know if there's a great explanation for this one...
  7. Little Girl-Johnny's name for me when I'm having a hard day
  8. Chestnut-This is because of my chestnut-color hair
  9. Dulcinea-In Spanish, this is translated as "Sweetest of the Sweet." See why I love him so?
  10. I don't know if there's a tenth one...I'll let you know if it comes to me.
So there ya have it. I love you Johnny. You make me who I am. You're my best friend, and I never imagined being so happy or so in love. Come what may.
