Rehearsal Dinner

Good Morning Blogging World!

It is another sunny day in my neck of the woods. Rochester, if another snow storm is on it's way, then quit playin games with my heart. For real. Okay, one Backstreet Boys reference a day is more than enough.

Today, I am scheming and dreaming about my little brother's wedding rehearsal dinner. My wonderful mom and I are planning it, and I gotta say, I think it's gonna rock. We're doing a mellow picnic style, which fits Kerry and Sammy very well (note: no one calls him Sammy except me. It's an older sister thing.)

It will be in an enclosed pavilion on Hamlin Beach State Park, a beautiful and natural beach area. The menu will consist of some pulled pork, BBQ chicken, and ribs from Dinosaur BBQ, a must-eat-restaurant in the city of Rochester. Be sure to catch your drool when you're viewing the menu. Mama LJ (aka my beautiful mom, Mama LJ is her ghetto name) and I will be cooking up some goodies as well, including corn bread, fruit salad, baked beans, and macaroni and cheese. Who knows what dessert will be, but between the two of us, we'll come up with something fabulous :)

For decor, I'm envisioning "classy picnic style". What does that mean? Well, I'm pretty sure I made it up, so I'll tell you what my definition is :) I'm thinking of blue and yellow napkins (their colors) and silverware bundled up with twine, centerpieces of hurricane jars with candles inside, potted Gerber daisies that can be taken home as thank-you gifts, white Chinese lanterns hanging from the ceiling, and large metal buckets filled with ice and all sorts of fun bottled beverages. We'll string some fun childhood photos of the happy couple, and have some engagement pictures out for everyone to see. I'm super excited about it, and I'll take lots of pictures when that day comes (late June).

Ah, the creative juices are flowing. Maybe it's time for a shopping trip this weekend? I'll let you know if I find any goodies :)
